{"id":5867,"date":"2013-06-19T05:45:01","date_gmt":"2013-06-19T05:45:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/antaiji.org\/?page_id=5867"},"modified":"2013-07-04T19:54:05","modified_gmt":"2013-07-04T19:54:05","slug":"english-werner","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/antaiji.org\/en\/history\/yearbooks\/yearbook-2011\/english-werner\/","title":{"rendered":"Werner"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>October 2011<\/h3>\n<h4><b>Werner<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><tt><\/p>\n<p>hello antaiji,<\/p>\n<p>before...<br \/>\nafter\u2026<br \/>\nnow\u2026<\/p>\n<p>after having had a first sesshin in eiheiji in 1978 -<br \/>\nand some other thankful approaches that way later<br \/>\nhere & there<br \/>\n-<br \/>\none day in march 2006,<br \/>\nwhile working for a movie on the island of iriomote in the deep south of japan,<br \/>\ni typed:<br \/>\n\"zen monastery shikantaza kodo sawaki man & woman equal\"<br \/>\ninto google search on my old laptop\u2026<\/p>\n<p>a couple of proposed & refused links<br \/>\nlater,<br \/>\ni reached the website of antaiji.<\/p>\n<p>i phoned up, and was accepted to come -<br \/>\nsome days later in the rather cold spring-weather that year,<br \/>\ni walked a remote mountain road on japan's west-coast,<br \/>\nsweating on my way with a rather too heavy backpack.<br \/>\nhalf-way up, a car came driving down the mountain -<br \/>\nmuho, the berlin-born 6th abbot (docho-san) of antaiji<br \/>\ntogether with tomomi-san by his side,<br \/>\nand their two little children,<br \/>\nmegumi-san & hikaru-san on the back seats,<br \/>\nstopped:<br \/>\n- car-window rolling down -<br \/>\n\"so, you are on your way to antaiji?\"<br \/>\n\"yes, sure\"<br \/>\n\"just keep on walking then\u2026\"<\/p>\n<p>that was my initiation to antaiji.<\/p>\n<p>now,<br \/>\nin autumn 2011,<br \/>\nafter ayako & me & our daughters lina & sayo<br \/>\nhave moved from europe to the island of awajishima<br \/>\non the east-cost of japan in november of 2009,<br \/>\nbeginning to build up a kind of artistic place\u00a0 in a former elementary-school,<br \/>\ncalled \"nomadomura\",<br \/>\nwe decided to make another movie together -<br \/>\nworking-title: \"opening the hand of thought\"<br \/>\nnot \"about\",<br \/>\nbut \"in\"<br \/>\nantaiji,<br \/>\nduring the coming two years,<br \/>\nbeing part of the sangha<br \/>\n- practicing - and filming equally.<br \/>\nTHIS is not quite as easy as writing down these sentences,<br \/>\nbut challenging.<\/p>\n<p>now,<br \/>\ni like to express my thankfulness to the sangha of antaiji<br \/>\nfor accepting and supporting us<br \/>\n(in a surprisingly open way)<br \/>\ndespite the rather strange presence<br \/>\nof our movie-recording-equipment & us<br \/>\nwithin the practice.<\/p>\n<p>to be honest,<br \/>\nso far we are not having any financial support from television or cinema-foundations, but one thing is for sure:<br \/>\nwe won't sign any agreement that would determine our work together with the sangha of antaiji<br \/>\nin order to please<br \/>\nany mainstream-or-profit-orientated-interests:<\/p>\n<p>rather poor<br \/>\n& insisting to stay independent,<br \/>\nafter all,<br \/>\nwe are so rich<br \/>\n& happy<br \/>\n& thankful<br \/>\nto be able to be<br \/>\nhere now<br \/>\nwith all of you<br \/>\ntime after time<\/p>\n<p>short version 2011<\/p>\n<p>repression<br \/>\ncontinues<br \/>\nworldwide<br \/>\nslaughtering<br \/>\ncontinues<br \/>\nlocal<br \/>\nliberation<br \/>\ncontinues<br \/>\ntoo<br \/>\njust like<br \/>\nexcessive internet use<br \/>\n& manipulation<br \/>\ncontinues<br \/>\nmoment by moment<br \/>\nopening the hand of thought<br \/>\ncontinues<br \/>\nnot only<br \/>\nduring<br \/>\nmeditation<br \/>\nlife goes<br \/>\non<br \/>\nhungry, curious & foolish<br \/>\nthankful<br \/>\nto be<br \/>\ncontinued<\/p>\n<p><\/aa><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October 2011 Werner hello antaiji, before&#8230;
