Sesshin in Schin up Geul, Netherlands (July 2008)

After visiting Switzerland, Muho and his family first crossed the Alps to visit Jiso Forzani, the resident teacher at the Zen centre La Stella del Mattino close to Milano. From there, they drove again through Switzerland and Germany and Muho next went alone to the Picardie, where he gave a talk at the Zen Dojo in Amiens. The next day, at the centre for Mindfulness Training in Maastricht the topic of Muho's talk was Stop Being Mindful!, and the evening after a sesshin started at the old Hotel Rozenhof (picture above), located in a picturesque location between Maastricht and Aachen.

The dining room served as our room for zazen, after we moved chairs and tables to the terrace, where we ate outside.

The talk after the sesshin on Dogen's Shoji also took place on the terrace, while eating cake and drinking coffee.

Some of the participants on the terrace, in the centre Hubert from the Zen Dojo in Amiens, who also took most of these pictures.

In the background you see for the Netherlands untypical hills, that make this area (Limburg) a popular tourist spot for the Dutch.

Left in this picture you can see Kes, who owns the Hotel and let us stay there for nothing more than doing some manual labour around the place.

Muho discusses the menu Veronique, the great cook who practices at the Dojo in Amsterdam.

She spoiled us, among other things, with ice cream.

Some of the bodhisattvas in the kitchen.

On the north side of the hotel runs a railroad track with several heavy trains passing each hour. It reminded us of a modern koan: "How do you stop a train that runs at full speed?"

Answer: "Stop the trainspotting in your mind, be one and let go!"

Muho signs books after the sesshin. On this picture with Ron,with whom he spent time at Tofukuji.
